Sailors assigned to the guided-missile frigate USS Thach are transported to the Royal Canadian Navy destroyer HMCS Algonquin for a personnel exchange as part of PANAMAX 2011. U.S. and Canadian sailors will spend two days touring opposite ships and participating in training exercises. Thach and Algonquin are part of the PANAMAX Pacific Task Force with navy ships from Chile, Ecuador and Peru. PANAMAX focuses on the defense of the Panama Canal, with participants from 17 countries, and involving more than 3,500 personnel throughout the U.S. Southern Command.
