Fred Ossman, Fort Drum wildlife biologist, has spent the past two springs investigating wood turtles within the post’s training areas. The project will allow the Natural Resources Branch to develop a conservation and management action plan that will potentially increase the population numbers while protecting the current wood turtle population. In the event that the wood turtle is listed as endangered and given federal protection, the installation will be ready to provide regulators with their data.
