Cpl. Shawn McKinney, a Marine Tilt Rotor Squadron 162 flightline mechanic, was a freshman at Denton High School when the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 occurred. The event made Mckinney, of Denton, N.C, want to join the United States Marine Corps where he now serves in Afghanistan.
