98th Maintenance Company soldiers conduct IED/VBIED convoy lanes training at JBER-Richardson Aug. 30. Under the guidance of U.S. Army Alaska's G-3 Operations and Plans, the training included scenarios where the convoy was hit by IEDs, disabling vehicles and injuring soldiers. During recovery operations, soldiers secured covering perimeters around the convoy while tow bars were hooked up to the disabled vehicles, and casualties were evaluated for injuries and treated prior to movement. An after-action review, held directly at the end of the exercise, provided leaders and participants an opportunity to critique actions taken and provide feedback that will assist in planning for future sustainment training prior to combat deployments.
