Joe Slaughter, a human resource specialist, assistant unit movement officer and a paralegal specialist with 1st Battalion, 149th Infantry Regiment, 77th Sustainment Brigade, 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, a native of Lexington, Ky., takes time away from his three desk jobs to help clean up used ammunition near Udairi, Kuwait, before deploying north to Joint Base Balad, Iraq, Aug. 4. Between his three daily duties with the 149th Regiment, Slaughter also finds time to work on college classes at the University of Kentucky, where he is a senior completing his bachelor’s degree in political science.
