TREK NAWA, Helmand province, Afghanistan — Lance Corporal Christopher D. Hatley Jr., an Abilene, Texas, native and a rifleman with Bravo Company, holds up the bullet that struck his Kevlar helmet when insurgent fighters fired on him and his fellow Marines during a recent operation. Hatley, a 2010 Pine Crest High School graduate, said he feels fortunate he survived the incident unharmed. “I think someone was looking out for me,” stated Hatley.
