MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. - The I.G. Brown Training and Education Center announces Oct. 4, 2013, that its enlisted professional military education students would return to their duty stations during the Oct. 1 government shutdown. The announcement cut the training here of 300 students from the U.S. Air Force Noncommissioned Officer Academy (NCOA) - 233 students - and Airman Leadership School (ALS) - 57 students. The government shutdown most of its business but it continued to fund the Defense Department and other government agencies responsible for national security. But Defense leadership said that the shutdown affected its missions across the world. (U.S. Air National Guard photo/Master Sgt. Mike R. Smith)
