Oregon Air National Guard F-15 Eagles of the 142nd Fighter Wing prepare for take off. On September 11, 2001, it wasn't long before the Western Air Defense Sector at McChord Air Force Base, Wash., called on the Oregon Air National Guard to provide air defense for the Pacific Northwest. ORANG pilots began to sit alert in the cockpit of their jets in anticipation of WADS tasking in a very dynamic and unpredictable threat environment.
