180712-D-WR005-229 JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (July, 12, 2018) – University of Hawaii student, Shannon Trinh (right) receives simulated lacerations, or moulage, from U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Karina Resendez (left), Tripler Army Medical Center Inpatient Pediatrics non-commissioned officer in charge, during the U.S. Navy’s Rim of the Pacific exercise, as part of the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief portion of the training event. Regional Health Command-Pacific Soldiers and civilians participated in the statewide medical response training to enhance operability, test communication and exercise crisis response capabilities among interagency partners. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships, five submarines, about 200 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security of the world’s oceans.
