Sgt. Damen Estes supervises a Marine conducting skid rappel training, July 16, 2018, on Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan. During the training, Marines refined helicopter rope suspension and rappelling techniques necessary to perform a wide range of military operations. Skid rappelling offers no other surface contact besides the rope itself. Estes is a section fire chief with 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group.
