Staff Sgt. Matthew Carr, 361st Training Squadron aircraft metals tech aprrentice course student, adjusts his machines settings at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, July 18, 2018. Carr is getting his machine ready to "turn" a piece of metal as part of his training. "Turning" means to reduce the size of a piece. Before he can be able to do so, Carr has to make sure his measurements are accurate. One small mistake and the piece will turn out oval instead of circle, which he says without a certain tool we couldn't tell the difference. Having a misshaped piece could cause major problems for the aircraft they will be going in, so each student must be diligent and a perfectionist.
