The 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, 149th Aviation Regiment, received the Army Aviation Association of America 2017 Aviation Unit of the Year award at a ceremony held at Nashville, Tennessee. GSAB commander, Lt. Col. Long and GSAB command sergeant major, Command Sgt. Maj. Michael R. Gordon Jr. were recognized by U.S. Army Vice Chief of Staff, Gen. James C. McConville, and President of the Army Aviation Association of America, retired Brig. Gen. Stephen D. Mundt, for the GSAB’s achievements while deployed to the Middle East. The award is presented annually to a selected Army National Guard aviation unit that has performed or contributed commendably to the field of aviation during the awards period.
