Union City native Staff Sgt. Tatiana Jairala, a linguist from the 141st Military Intelligence Battalion out of Orem Armory, Utah and attached to Combined Joint Task Force – Hope during the Beyond the Horizon 2018, helps Salvadoran soldiers lay cinder blocks at the San Marcos de la Cruz School, one of the five engineer sites for this year’s BTH, in Zacatecoluca, El Salvador. BTH is an annual US Army South led exercise which deploys close to 1,800 service members from all military branches. In coordination with the Government of El Salvador, the exercise includes five MEDRETEs, which provide dental services, routine checkups, immunizations, eye exams and other types of medical care. BTH also includes the completion of five engineering projects such as clinics and schools.
