Col. Todd R. Wasmund, center, 1st Infantry Division Mission Command Element commander, discusses the various vehicles that comprise the 1ID MCE division tactical command post, or DTAC, with Lt. Gen. Aundre F. Piggee, left, Army deputy chief of staff, G-4, and Maj. Gen. Steven A. Shapiro, right, 21st Theater Sustainment Command commanding general, during Piggee’s visit to the 1ID MCE headquarters in Poznań, Poland, July 26, 2018. Piggee received a briefing on the 1ID MCE's Atlantic Resolve mission, which is spread across eight eastern European countries. The DTAC allows Wasmund and the MCE to command the close fight during a conflict while quickly maneuvering across the battlefield at a moment’s notice. The 1ID MCE is U.S. Army Europe’s intermediate division-level headquarters charged with ensuring the regionally allocated forces are trained and ready during their nine-month tours to eastern Europe.
