Soldiers from the New York Army National Guard, 42nd Infantry Division visit the Chateau-Thierry American Monument in Suippes, France on July 26, 2018 and display the division flag like soldiers did 100 years ago.. The 42nd Division Soldiers are the lead element for the commemorations of the Second Battle of the Marne, fought in July of 1918. They will participate all week in events conducted by the American Battle Monuments Commission and the U.S. Army Centennial.Twenty-five Soldiers from the 42nd Infantry Division were in France from July 24-29 to take part in events commemorating the division's role-- and the role of the U.S. Army-- in World War I.
