Friends and family cheer for Sunburst Youth Challenge Academy Class 21 cadets during Family Day, March 17, 2018, at Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, California. Family Day reunited cadets with friends and family members for the first time since early January, when Class 21 began its nearly-six month in-residence program. Sunburst is one of three ChalleNGe Academies run by the Cal Guard, and is designed to help at-risk teens make up academic credits while also learning discipline, teamwork, and goal setting.
