The soldiers are in the 1st Attack Helicopter Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, which has adopted the Wamego, Kan., school. The Adopt a School program pairs up military units with schools near their post and the soldiers regularly participate in activities at the school such as beautification projects, reading and mentoring. The battalion has plans for many more visits to the school throughout the year.
