PACIFIC OCEAN (Jul. 12, 2018) The crew of Royal Canadian Navy Maritime Coastal Defense Vessel HMCS Whitehorse (MM 705) recovers their small boat while Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) Operator, Sascha Lagendijk, flushes a REMUS 100 following a mine hunting mission to prepare the vehicle for a data transfer of the recorded sonar imagery, July 12. This mine hunting mission locates potential exercise sea mines in Southern California as part of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships, five submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California.
