Col. Mark Campsey relinquished command of the brigade to Col. Charles Aris at the ceremony, attended by honored guests such as the Texas National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. John Nichols, 36th Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. Eddy Spurgin, and Assistant Adjutant General Brig. Gen. Joyce Stevens. Campsey lead the brigade in one of the largest deployments of Texas National Guard troops since World War II.
