New York Army National Guard Sgt. Chance Ahlberg, assigned to the 427th Brigade Support Battalion, presents a poppy flower to civilian Monique Seefried, at a remembrance ceremony at Flander’s Field American Cemetery, Waregem, Belgium, on August 4, 2018. Historically poppies, a flower which grows int he region, are associated with remembering war dead. As part of commemorations of the centennial of the end of WWI, the 27th and 30th Infantry Brigade Combat Teams sent Soldiers to to Belgium and France to conduct ceremonies and tour famous locations to commemorate the event.
