Cpl. Wade Hale, a heavy equipment operator with Support Company, 7th Engineer Support Battalion, directs the driver of a backhoe as newly-placed debris is pushed into place during a causeway construction project in Helmand River near Forward Operating Base Sabit Qadam, Afghanistan, Sept. 27. Marines have unloaded several metric tons of rock and concrete at the site which will eventually serve as a platform to launch a medium-girder bridge that will span the remainder of the river.
