Cpl. Steven L. Mendez, 31, from Riverside, Calif., with Military Police Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, experiences first hand what it feels like to have mechanical advantage control holds used on him during a training exercise aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard, Sept. 30. “I was putting up a lot of resistance and they were just grinding down on my triceps, it was really hurting,” Mendez said. “They were a lot smaller than I was, but what they did is they used pain compliance.”
