PACIFIC OCEAN – U.S. Marine Capt. Nicholas Koza, an F-35B Lighting II pilot with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 211, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), gives a hand signal for takeoff to U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Rey White, an aviation boatsmate handler with the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2), during a regularly scheduled deployment of Essex ARG and the 13th MEU, July 31, 2018. The Essex ARG/MEU team is a strong, flexible, responsive and consistent force capable of maneuver warfare across all domains; it is equipped and scalable to respond to any crisis from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to contingency operations.
