SULU SEA – U.S. Navy Seamen Gary Smith with the Essex Amphibious Ready Group, looks out to sea aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) during search and rescue operations for a missing Marine attached to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), while on a regularly scheduled deployment of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 13th MEU, August 13, 2018.
