TRINCOMALEE, SRI LANKA (August 24, 2018) The Sri Lankan Navy stands in a formation on the Trincomalee Pier as the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23) pulls into port during a regularly scheduled deployment of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). Anchorage and the embarked Marines of the 13th MEU are conducting a theater security cooperation exercise with the Sri Lankan Navy and Navy Marines. Part of a growing U.S.-Sri Lanka naval partnership, the exercise is also an opportunity for U.S. Seventh Fleet to explore local logistics support services for visiting naval forces operating throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
