Electronics Technician Chief Cheyenne Shasky, from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center, assisted in presenting a first person narrative account of the fateful actions of Chief Water Tender Peter Tomich, who perished aboard the USS Utah (BB-31/AG-16) during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 194. The presentation was given in the Chief’s Mess aboard the USS Wisconsin (BB-64), a space that is generally closed to the publich. Shasky is dressed in a period specific uniform to depict the cultural icon, Rosie the Riveter. The Hampton Roads Naval Museum, in conjunction with local Chief Petty Officers and Nauticus, hosted the annual CPO Heritage Days event, which provides history and heritage training for CPO selectees over the course of three days. This years event was held on August 21-23, 2018, and attracted over 840 CPO Selectees from 58 area and out of state commands. (US Navy Photo by Civilian Public Affairs Officer Max Lonzanida/Released)
