Spc. Jeff Flanagan, an infantryman from Manchester, N.H., acts as an assistant gunner for Pvt. Joe Green, an infantryman from Dover, N.H., both with C Company, 3/172nd Infantry Battalion (Mountain), fires a M240B machine gun, while at Fort Devens, Mass.,, on Oct. 2. Green, Flanagan, and about 370 other soldiers from the New Hampshire National Guard's 54th Troop Command, were at Fort Devens to participate in weapons qualification and familiarization courses that are a yearly requirement for NHNG soldiers, to practice their basic soldier skills to be prepared to perform their state and federal missions.
