U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Shannon Politte, a native of New Orleans and material management supervisor for Company A, 172nd Support Battalion, 172nd Infantry Brigade, Task Force Blackhawk, tracks inbound and outbound flights at the flight line Oct. 5, at Forward Operating Base Sharana. Politte is constantly busy as the non-commissioned officer in charge of the helicopter landing zone. The flight line is a 24/7 operation which is manned by Politte and her staff of 18 soldiers.
