U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Shannon Politte, a native of New Orleans and material management supervisor for Company A, 172nd Support Battalion, 172nd Infantry Brigade, Task Force Blackhawk, tracks inbound and outbound flights at the flight line Oct. 5 at Forward Operating Base Sharana. Politte is constantly busy as the non-commissioned officer in charge of the helicopter landing zone. The flight line is a 24/7 operation which is manned by Politte and her staff of 18 soldiers.
