Culinary teams from the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy competed in the cooking competition "Galley Wars" during Los Angeles Fleet Week in San Pedro, California, Sept. 3, 2018. Petty Officer 3rd Class Melissa Northrop, Petty Officer 2nd Class Derek Nguyen, and Petty Officer 1st Class Michael Allen, Coast Guard Culinary Specialists from the Coast Guard Cutter Alert, won the cook-off. Celebrity chef Robert Irvine announced the winners and Rear Adm. Daniel Dwyer, Commander, Carrier Strike Group Nine, presented the Coast Guard team with the 1st place prize, a carved 2018 LA Fleet Week “Galley Wars” cutting board.
