SAN FRANCISCO (Sept. 7, 2018) The submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS 39) steams near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Calif., Sept. 7, 2018. Land is leaving California after a 3-month scheduled maintenance availability at Mare Island Dry-Dock in Vallejo, Calif. Submarine tenders provide maintenance, hotel services and logistical support to submarines and surface ships in the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation.
