A CH-47 Chinook Helicopter from the Eastern Army Aviation Training Site (EAATS) at Fort Indiantown Gap parks in a hangar at McEntire Joint National Guard Base before Hurricane Florence's arrival. The aircraft and crew will integrate with thousands of National Guard members and first responders that are prepositioning assets and supplies to be used in the response to Hurricane Florence. The storm is expected to hit large swaths of South Carolina later today and tomorrow.
Potential missions for the aircraft and crew include: rescue operations, delivering items like food and water to stranded citizens, as well as infrastructure support like lifting large sandbags into position.
