Sgt. 1st Class Lawrence Smashey, from Monroeville, NJ, provides direction to a Humvee driver as Soldiers from the 20th CBRNE Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., prepared to respond to the devastation from Hurricane Florence Sept. 14, 2018. Smashy is attached to the 20th CBRNE Command and works as the secretary to the general's staff. The Soldiers actions are in line with the command’s readiness initiative, and although they have not received any official request for assistance they will be prepared and ready to go if or when that request comes.
