Ronald Dowdell, amphibious assault ship USS Boxer’s (LHD 4) commanding officer, Command Master Chief Francisco Valdovinos and Chief Machinist’s Mate Nicholas Ferro slice the cake during a cake-cutting ceremony in the Chiefs Mess celebrating Boxer’s newly-pinned chiefs. The chief pinning ceremony was the culmination of six weeks of training indoctrination during Sailor 360, phase II. Boxer is pierside in its homeport for contractor maintenance availability.
