SAN DIEGO (Sept. 14, 2018) Capt. Ronald Dowdell, amphibious assault ship USS Boxer’s (LHD 4) commanding officer, Command Master Chief Francisco Valdovinos and Chief Machinist’s Mate Nicholas Ferro slice the cake during a cake-cutting ceremony in the Chiefs Mess celebrating Boxer’s newly-pinned chiefs. The chief pinning ceremony was the culmination of six weeks of training indoctrination during Sailor 360, phase II. Boxer is pierside in its homeport for contractor maintenance availability.
