Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Dennis and Command Sgt. Maj. Jonathon Ballard, Commander and Command Sgt. Maj. respectively of 1 Battalion 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division look on as a memorial service at the Barbaka Forest memorial site is conducted. This site remembers those whom were victims of NAZI atrocities and buried in mass graves in Barbarka forest in the Barbary sector of Torun, Poland during WWII. Annually, this memorial takes place to perhaps help survivors and relatives find some peace while vowing to never again allow such heinous acts as these to occur. Soldiers from 1-82 FA were the first American Soldiers to participate in this annual event.
