Approximately 12 performers navigate the haribote, or paper mache White Snakes, an Iwakuni-oriented species and designated as a national treasure, through the parade during the 55th Annual Iwakuni Festival in downtown Iwakuni, Oct. 16. When the performers brought the beautifully decorated snakes close enough, parade spectators reached out their hands to touch them. The White Snakes attracted crowds during the parade.
