James Tuite IV, regimental commander, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), and Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze render honors during the sounding of Taps in Section 30 of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, Sept. 19, 2018. Bakhtadze laid a wreath at the gravesite of U.S. Army Gen. John M. Shalikashvili who was the first foreign-born soldier to become the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, serving under President Bill Clinton from 1993 to 1997. Shalikashvili’s father, Dimitri Shalikashvili, was an aristocratic Georgian nationalist and served as a lieutenant colonel in the army of the Democratic Republic of Georgia. Gen.
