Col. Scott Efflandt, commander of 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, meets with Sons of Iraq members and sheiks from the southern and central provinces of Iraq to discuss the future of Iraq, Oct. 19. The Sons of Iraq and sheiks are primarily concerned with their safety and influence in the Iraqi government after U.S. forces depart Iraq at the end of the year. Efflandt promised to continue to engage his resources to protect them.
