MEUSE-ARGONNE CEMETERY, France (Sept. 29, 2018) The grave of Lt. Frank Luke with a wreath layed during a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of his death. Lt. Frank Luke is America’s first Airman ever to earn the Congressional Medal of Honor (posthumously) for his last mission. On 29 Sept 1918, Lt Luke was shot down at Murvaux village, wounded in the chest by ground fire and died firing his pistol at German soldiers.
