SINGAPORE (Oct. 2, 2018) - Sailors aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) prepare to man the rails as the ship makes it arrival at Singapore. Prior to the ship's arrival to Singapore, Wasp with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) provided Defense Support to Civil Authorities in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands following the aftermath of Typhoon Mangkhut and conducted training in the East and South China Seas. Wasp, the flagship for the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance amphibious capabilities with regional partners and to serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
