Airmen from the 407th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron show Col. Scott Gibson, 407th Air Expeditionary Group commander, how to use a dynamic cone penetrometer, which is used to measure the ground’s resistance to penetration at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, Oct. 9, 2018. This tool is used to determine the ground’s resistance strength and what type of structures or surfaces can be places in that area. The engineering flight gave Gibson hands-on training to gain a better understanding of the unit and their mission capabilities. (U.S Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Dana J. Cable)
