Marines with Guard Company, Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., participated in an Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray evaluation course at the Barracks, Oct. 11, 2018. The annual OC spray course consists of a series of self-defense tactics and methods of detainment while battling the effects of the spray. OC spray causes inflammation of the eyes and mucous membranes, making it difficult to see, breathe, and function in any coordinated manner. This test ensures that the Guard Marines are able to function under pressure, even in the most uncomfortable or painful situations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Robert Knapp/Released)
