NEWPORT, R.I. (Oct. 3, 2018) James B. Stockdale II speaks to a group of military students at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, R.I., Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018. Stockdale spoke about the behind-the-scenes family impact of the seven years that his father, the late Vice Adm. James B. Stockdale, spent as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. The historical photograph in the background shows Sybil Stockdale accepting the Legion of Merit with Combat V medal on behalf of her husband aboard the Essex-class aircraft carrier USS Oriskany (CV 34) on Feb. 22, 1966.
