Zach Smyers, a Museum Educator with the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, meticulously counts Lego pieces associated with a model kit in preparation for next year’s Annual Brick by Brick Lego Shipbuilding Event. The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 10am-4pm inside the Decker Half Moon Cruise Terminal; which is located at 1 Waterside Drive, Norfolk, Virginia 23510. The event is free of charge, and utilizes STEM based design plans which allow participants to build over 200+ models on-site. Participants can also enter their own LEGO models in the shipbuilding contest, enjoy a free play area suitable for all ages with LEGO and Duplo blocks, enjoy hands on robotics demonstrations, and enjoy a quiet sensory room. This free annual event attracts over a thousand visitors each year, and is one of the signature events hosted by the museum.
