Sgt. Zachary Smith, a combat medic with the Ohio Army National Guard Medical Detachment out of Columbus, Ohio, appears before the Sergeants Major board Oct. 14 as part of Special Troops Command’s Best Warrior Competition at the Camp Sherman Joint Training Center. Smith won the noncommissioned officer category and was named the STC’s NCO of the year after a very strong board appearance.
