181019-N-KW492-0091 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Oct. 19, 2018) Gunner's Mate 2nd Class Kendall Trichel fires a 40mm ceremonial saluting battery as Gunner's Mate 1st Class Kyle Orr, center, and Lt. Daniel Pratt observe for safety as part of a live-fire exercise aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD3) during the Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 4 composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX). COMPTUEX is the final pre-deployment exercise that certifies the combined Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group's and 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit's abilities to conduct military operations at sea and project power ashore through joint planning and execution of challenging and realistic training scenarios.
