181015-N-KT659-1091 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Oct. 10, 2018) Lt. Cmdr. John Pritchett, from the “Grey Knights” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 46, sits in the flight station of a P-3C Orion anti-submarine warfare patrol aircraft as he brings the aircraft in for landing. VP-46 is currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet and U.S. 7th Fleet Areas of Operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. While in this region, VP-46 is supporting naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
