Ben Bremer, from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District discusses Operation Blue Roof during a live television interview Friday Oct. 19, 2018 in Panama City Beach, Fla., as part of efforts to get the word out about the free program. Operation Blue Roof is a FEMA program administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that provides a temporary covering of blue plastic sheeting to help reduce further damage to property until permanent repairs can be made to Florida residents impacted by Hurricane Michael.
“This mission is an important part of helping residents move forward with their lives,” said Bremer, resident engineer for the Operation Blue Roof program said when asked about recent work done at the home of Panama City, Fla., resident Mike Protz's home. “Providing these temporary roof repairs not only helps allow people to return to their homes from shelters and hotels but having that temporary roof installed means people like Mr. Protz and so many others can begin repairs and rebuilding their homes.”
