SAN DIEGO (Oct. 24, 2018) – Vice Admiral John Alexander, commander, U.S. Third Fleet, cuts a ceremonial cake with Jack Ersch (left), board president and Larry Blumberg, executive director of Fleet Week San Diego 2018 aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) for the Fleet Week San Diego opening reception. Fleet Week San Diego offers the public an opportunity to take a tour of the ships and meet service members as they showcase the ships’ capabilities. It also gives the public a chance to gain a better understanding of how the sea services support the national defense of the United States and freedom of the seas.(U.S. Navy photo)
