U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. (ret.) Mike Wooley, chairman of the Air Commando Association, and U.S. Air Force Col. (ret.) Dennis Barnett, president of the ACA, present hall of fame plaques to Valerie Nessel, widow of U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. John Chapman, and Terry Chapman, mother of John Chapman, during the ACA HOF Banquet on Oct. 27, 2018, at the Emerald Coast Convention Center in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The ACA inducted U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. John Chapman as the sole honoree into the Hall of Fame. Chapman, the first Special Tactics operator to earn the Medal of Honor, was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during the Battle of Takur Ghar, Afghanistan, in 2002.
